Sydney Vital would like to invite you to attend Temporo-spatial optimization of radiation therapy, a seminar by Prof Thomas Bortfeld.
In recent years the dose delivery over time has come back into the focus of our attention. A prime example is the development of stereotactic total body radiation therapy with higher dose per fraction.
In this seminar, opportunities to optimize temporal dose delivery schemes, starting with motion management within seconds, dose adaptation over days to account for biological effects through the linear-quadratic model, and optimization of the combined schedule of different treatment modalities will be discussed.
Prof Thomas Bortfeld will explore recent developments in ultra-short dose delivery schemas (>50 Gy/second, FLASH) and optimizing personalized treatments through optimal stopping.
Guest Speaker Bio:
- Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
- Developed and deployed multi-criteria optimization and robust optimization of treatment plans at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston.
- Professor at the Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Radiation Biophysics Division at MGH.
