Sydney Vital Members Awarded Funding From Fight On the Beaches

Sydney Vital members Dr Emily Colvin, Dr Sarah Hayes, Dr Malinda ItchinsProf Mark Baker are awarded funding from Fight on the Beaches (FOTB).

With support from A/Prof Viive Howell at the Bill Walsh Lab, Dr Emily Colvin is granted for her project “Improving ovarian cancer treatment using nanoparticles”; Dr Malinda Itchins and Dr Sarah Hayes ‘s project –“Predicting response to treatment in the ALKternate clinical trial for lung cancer often affecting the young, fit and never smokers” is awarded.

Prof Mark Baker from Macquarie University is funded for his project of Blood-Based Colorectal Cancer Screening Will Save Australian Lives”.

Every year, FOTB, through their foundation Fight for a Cure, donates the money raised from their annual Christmas in July Ball to fund cancer researchers to do vital research. To date, they have funded 10 years of research, and 9 individual researchers.

We are proud to see all grant recipients of the FOTB research funding for 2018 are our members and Sydney Vital would like to congratulate these members and we are looking forward to seeing more exciting news and research outcomes from them.
