This educational event will give attendees the opportunity to hear national experts present an update on the multidimensional assessment and multidisciplinary management of pain in patients with cancer.
The meeting will provide education on the latest Cancer Pain management guidelines and their implementation through the STOP Cancer pain project.
Our panel of experts will include:
Professor Melanie Lovell
Professor Lovell is a Palliative Medicine physician with HammondCare at Greenwich Hospital and Director of the Palliative Care Service at the Mater in Sydney. In 2010 she was Chair of the Cancer Pain and Palliative Care working group for the National Pain Summit. She is the Clinical Lead for a team to implement evidence-based strategies in cancer pain management.
Professor Stephen Clarke
Stephen Clarke is a medical oncologist, pharmacologist and translational researcher with major clinical and research interests in gastrointestinal and thoracic cancers and pharmacology. He is a medical oncologist at the Northern Cancer Institute and Royal North Shore Hospital, Director of Cancer Services at Northern Sydney Local Health District and Professor of Medicine at USYD.
Professor Jane Phillips
Professor Phillips is the Director of the Centre for Cardiovascular and Chronic Care at the University of Technology Sydney and an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame. Her research interests include palliative care, breast cancer and health care reform.
Professor Fran Boyle
Professor Boyle is a medical oncologist at the Mater Sydney and Director of the Patricia Ritchie Centre. She has been involved in research and teaching in the area of medical communication for 15 years and works with The Pam McLean Centre at the University of Sydney.
